Main Marsh Completion

A tremendous amount of work on the main marsh has been done by the volunteers. This shows the end of raking on the marsh for 2009. It's always good to get these jobs behind you. If we didn't do this necessary work, within 2 or 3 years the marsh would be unrecognizable. Willow scrub would take over and the orchids that occur there would suffer.

          Seasonal Work

          CEO in Action

Paul Learoyd the new CEO of the Trust made a welcome visit to Messingham Sand Quarry to help out with some scrub bashing. He is seen here on the left getting to grips with some of the gorse which has overgrown this part of the reserve.

          Ditch clearance

It has been several years since this ditch has seen the full light of day. Thanks to the volunteers efforts over the winter, coupled with some of the areas being dealt with by the Barton group or Trust contracted people, this has allowed us time to deal with an area that has been overgrown for a number of years.
